| Corey and I after the Wake vs. UNC game! (and that's my lucky shirt- wore it to all the games we won- I'm not superstitious) |
This season, she gave us tickets to the some of the early season games, the NC State game, and then offered us tickets to the Duke game. The Duke game fell on Ash Wednesday. I told Drew to invite a friend and that he should definitely go.
For those of you who may not know, Drew is a DUKE fan. He loves Duke basketball. He jumped at the chance to go to a Duke game when offered the tickets this past week. He asked his friend Corey to go with him. I think he just knew he'd see a Duke win....
He texted at half time with an update: WFU 36, Duke 33. That was good news for me (as I was just finishing up the Ash Wednesday service at church). He continued to text me throughout the 2nd half.
I got home with about 5 minutes to go and just sat in awe as I watched MY team beat HIS team (#4 team in the county). I sat on my couch and screamed. I loved every moment of it. Not that it was his team, but I loved the fact that my team looked great!
Drew called on his way home and was so excited about the game- you read that right, he was so excited! He loved the way that Wake Forest played. He wasn't upset about his team, he was rejoicing in the fact that my team did well.
I called a few friends following the win to see if anyone wanted to go to Wake's campus and roll the quad (it's tradition!)- but no one was up for it. So I rolled a small tree in our yard in their honor! GO DEACS!
| The tree I rolled and Drew cleaned up first thing the next day. |
It was the best game of the season and I watched it from my couch. Proud to be a DEACON!
