Sweetest of friends.
There are very few memories of my childhood that do not involve Cassi Cardwell. We went to preschool together at First Presbyterian, went to church together, sang in the choir together, danced together, you name it. Well, except for the fact that Cassi played sports- that really wasn't my gig. I was on the cheerleading team and Cassi played soccer. Our 8th grade year, our middle school decided to start an all girls soccer team. They needed a few more players to have the team and I reluctantly agreed. Needless to say, Cassi was a starter and I cheered from the side lines- but I loved it.
Our sophomore year when we rushed our high school sorority- we had to dress crazy. And yes, our high school had a sorority.
Cassi and I share a lot of memories. From the times during Junior Miss, late nights at dance, doing lots of homework together, sharing birthdays together (especially our sweet 16), working on staff for CCC the same summer, and just being there for each other. Cassi and her family (particularly her Mama Sue, who I called "Zoo") loved me like one of their own.
One of my favorite adult memories is when Cassi baked our wedding cake. I think we talked on the phone for maybe 15 minutes about what I was thinking and she totally understood. I sent her samples of the gold I was using and she went with it. What she did was perfect! What a gift that was!

Her masterpiece!
I am thankful for the friend that pushed me to be my best and to love life. I'd give anything for the two of us to meet sometime this fall and make a pile of leaves and just spend time jumping in them- one of my favorite all time memories.
